The Ultra Lite Weight and Health Management System has been used by about 1/2 million people in Australia and New Zealand over the past 11 years since it was founded by a Melbourne naturopath.  In 2005 and 2006 it was voted as Australia's best and most effective weight management system by readers of the national magazine titled  "Slimming".  Yes it came out ahead of the other big names you will see advertised on the TV.  Ultra Lite is so popular because it works, it is easy to follow, is based on sound principles of nutrition, and it teaches you to eat healthy food.   I have been using the Ultra Lite system to help clients lose weight since 2002, and have found it to be the most successful method of weight reduction.

I want to make it as easy as possible for your to take that important first step in improving your health and quality of life.  I am happy to explain the details of Ultra Lite to you in my clinic.  Allow about an hour for your consultation.  At your free consultation we will:

Look briefly at your current health to ensure that weight loss is safe for you and to see if there are any other important health issues that may affect weight loss or need attention.  It is helpful if you click here to download my health appraisal questionnaire and bring it with you the first appointment.

I will measure your fat mass and muscle mass with a bio-impedance analyser.  This helps you to set goals and understand exactly where you need to go with your body composition.  The bio-impedance analyser is a simple electrical device that also measures some other important markers of health such as the levels of fluid inside and outside your cells which gives an indication of cellular energy levels, cellular nutrition and health of cell membranes.  I do the bio-impedance test every week for those on Ultra Lite to monitor progress.

I will explain in detail the Ultra Lite instruction manual which shows you exactly how to plan your meals and gives lots of delicious recipes you can use for the whole family.

Why does the Ultra Lite Weight Management program work so well?

Ultra Lite is not based on calorie counting.  The traditional way to reduce weight is by counting calories, working on the principal that if you eat less calories than you use in daily activity, you will lose weight.  This is true, but just reducing calories can leave you feeling very hungry, with cravings for certain foods, and a good chance of being deficient in vital nutrients.  This type of diet often results in a reduction of muscle mass, making it easier to gain weight when the diet is finished, as muscle is the biggest burner of fat in the body.  The Ultra Lite Weight and Health Management System works by balancing protein, carbohydrate and fat in the right proportions to get your body to burn fat for energy, while at the same time preserving your muscle mass, so that you will not gain weight easily in the future.

Ultra Lite teaches you how to eat for the future.  If you are overweight, it is a result of your lifestyle up to now.  Going on a "diet" may lose some weight, but unless you learn new lifestyle skills, you will soon go back to where you started.  Through Ultra Lite, I want to teach you lifestyle skills that will not only keep your weight down, but improve your health and the health of your family.  There is a life time maintenance plan to follow your Ultra Lite weight management program.

You will not feel hungry while on the Ultra Lite program.  Hunger is triggered by low blood sugar.  In a low calorie diet, you can eat foods that increase blood sugar quickly so long as you do not eat too much of them.  The problem is that these foods not only increase blood sugar quickly, but also cause your blood sugar to drop rapidly soon after - that's when the hunger and cravings begin.  Unless your eating plan takes into account the body's reaction to blood sugar, you will not feel good.  The Ultra Lite eating plan ensures that your blood sugar is kept at a nice even level all day so you feel good and don't get hungry.

You will have plenty of energy while on the Ultra Lite program.  When your body is breaking down fat at a certain rate, the energy derived from your fat keeps you feeling energetic.

Some Frequently Asked Questions:

How much does it cost?  Answer: About as much as servicing your car.  It is not expensive, but you need to see exactly what you getting before you can assess its value.  Take into account what you will save on expensive junk foods.

Does it involve regular visits to the naturopath?  Answer - Yes.  You can begin Ultra Lite with a 5 week program.  This involves an initial consultation, five subsequent consultations (preferably weekly) and a final at the end of your maintenance program.

What happens if I need to do more than 5 weeks?  Answer - You can do another 5 weeks at a reduced price or do it weekly.

What happens when I am close to my goal weight?  Answer - There is a maintenance program that shows you how to plan well balanced meals that will not increase weight.  The information for the maintenance program as well as a visit about 5 weeks later is included in the price of the initial program.

Does my health fund cover any of the cost?  Answer - It depends on the level of your membership.  You can check with your fund.  There are two ways you may be able to claim.  First, if you are covered for naturopathy, then there are 7 visits you can claim for in a 5 week program.  Second, many funds recognise Ultra Lite as a bulk item you can claim.  You will need to work out which is the best option.  I am a provider for all health funds.

I have heard that rapid weight loss is dangerous, does Ultra Lite come in this category?  Answer - Rapid weight loss is dangerous on a "starvation" diet.  Ultra Lite is definitely not in that category.  Ultra Lite is quite rapid, but because there is a good balance of nutrients and because there is less muscle loss, it is very safe.

I have heard that high protein diets like Adkin's are not safe.  Answer - Ultra Lite is NOT a high protein diet.  The amount of protein and fat is restricted to levels that are less than the average diet.  Ultra Lite is very different to the Adkin's diet.

Isn't dieting all about avoiding fats?  Answer - No. Both fats and carbohydrates must be taken into account.  Our body can very quickly convert excess carbohydrate into fat.   We must have some fats, particularly essential fatty acids.  They are called essential, because we can only obtain them from the diet.  Omega 3 essential fatty acids are found in Flaxseed oil and omega 6 essential fatty acids are found in Safflower oil.  It is necessary to have some essential fatty acids while on the Ultra Lite program.
