THE SURE PATH TO SPIRITUAL HEALTH At St George Naturopathic Clinic, people from all faiths are equally welcomed and respected. If you want to know more about my faith, read on or ask me. How do we find spiritual health? There are many approaches to this subject, that vary according to their definition of spiritual health. I believe that spiritual health is something that will last for eternity and is also able to help us in our daily life in this world. When it comes to matters of the spirit, why not go straight to the highest authority on the subject, that is our Creator who created and sustains our spirit. We do not have to scour the philosophies of the world to find the answer, our Creator has given us clear instructions through the revelation of Himself - His character and His desire for our lives can be clearly seen through centuries of recorded historical interaction with humans. The first recorded human interaction with our Creator tells how through love He made humans and gave them a perfect environment in which to live. Here they could live a life without sickness, without sadness, a life that would be perfect in every way. There was only one condition - that they would trust their Creator completely with their lives. They did this for a time, but then they began to question their Creator's perfect love for them, suggesting that He was withholding something from them. They were right, He was withholding something from them - the knowledge of evil - because He knew that this knowledge would ruin their perfect existence. In fact He had warned them that knowledge of evil would lead them to death. His story tells us that they did in fact they did physically seek the knowledge of evil and once finding it immediately discovered a new dimension to their lives - no longer could they trust each other, so they covered their nakedness and hid from their Creator. Their perfect existence had ended, their perfect environment was no more - every human being since then has been born into an imperfect world with sickness, pain, sorrow and death. At this point our Creator could have given up and started all over again. But instead He continued, as He had a plan for eventually re-instating the perfect life. Today we are in the final stages of His plan, we are on the verge of experiencing an existence far more perfect than we could ever imagine. Do you want to know how to be certain that you will be in this perfect world? If so please read on. From the very beginning, His plan was to send one other person into the world who was not born into our imperfect world. How could He do this? He sent His own Son, who had been with Him since the very beginning of time. He sent Him into our world to be born as a human being. His Son grew to become a man, and being the Son of the Creator, he was and is the only human being to be unchanged by the knowledge of evil. His entire life was lived in full trust of the Creator. You will remember that failure to entirely trust the Creator led to human death. Not only is death an end of human life, it is an end of any spiritual life with the Creator. Why is this so? Is it because the Creator is a tyrant? No, it is simply because in a perfect world there cannot be any hint of imperfection. No matter how hard we try, we will never be perfect - perfection can only come from the Creator and our perfect trust in Him. This leaves us with a great problem - no matter how much we want to live in His perfect world, we will never match the required standard. Fortunately for us, our Creator has an answer for our dilemma. He allowed His perfect Son to die and be completely separated from Him for a short time. In a mysterious way, that only the Creator can fully understand, the death of His Son was a death that substituted for the death of every human being. Through the death of the Son, we can all avoid our own death. We will all die in this world one day, but we can avoid the eternal death or separation from the Creator. The Creator has acted through the work of His Son to give us a perfect eternal life, but all will not receive it, for eternal life with the Creator is only given to those who want it. Do you want to receive the free gift of a perfect eternal existence with the Creator? It is there for the taking, but on the same condition that was given to the very first human beings - you must be willing to trust the Creator with your entire life. If you admit this willingness to the Lord God our Creator, and if you accept that Jesus, his only Son, died in your place, you will be guaranteed a place in Heaven. As far as the present life, the Lord God has given us His Spirit to keep us to our promise to Him and as a guide to teach us spiritual truths about Him. If you are seeking spiritual health, I encourage you to be open-minded and listen to the Spirit of God who will guide those who are willing to listen. I suggest you begin to read the Bible, and begin with the New Testament section, and read one of the Gospels - Matthew, Mark, Luke or John. Come with an attitude of being willing to accept what is read, if you are convinced. As you read, ask God to reveal to your spirit, through His Spirit, the truth of what you are reading. If you imagine the Bible as a sphere, you will find two completely different views of the Bible. One when it is viewed from the inside, with the words of God himself illuminated by the Holy Spirit, and another when it is viewed from the outside, with the spiritual words hidden by our own unwillingness to listen to God. When it comes to spiritual health, what better guide can we have than the Spirit of our Creator himself?
