Are you one of those people who just look at food and put on weight? Why is this so?There are a number of possible reasons, but recent research points to a new and important part of the weight gain and weight loss puzzle.
In the documentary movie "Supersize Me", Morgan Spurlock ate only food from a particular fast food outlet for several weeks. He developed a number of health problems that could not be attributed only to his increase in weight. This begs the question , "Is an increase in weight the only factor in increasing risk of degenerative disease, or does it relate to the type of food that is eaten?" Research points to "kinases" as being very important in controlling body health. What are kinases? Put simply, they are a class of more than 500 enzymes found in all cells of our body that translate messages sent to the cell into a signal that tells the cell what to do and what chemicals to produce. It is thought that natural chemicals found in foods as well as the man made chemicals have different effects on these kinases. It is considered that many natural food chemicals can have a beneficial effect on the body through stimulation of kinases. On the other hand, chemicals introduced into our foods through processing can have a very strongly adverse effect on the message that kinases send to the cell causing problems with the immune system, inflammation, body fat retention, appetite, insulin signalling and cell division. Because every person is genetically unique, we will all be influenced in a different way by what we eat. Some of us will be able to resist the adverse effects of bad food choices, whereas others will succumb very quickly to the effects of processed foods. The good news is that a number of natural plant chemicals have been found to have a balancing effect on kinases. If you are having difficulty reducing weight despite being on a good weight loss program, supplementing with these plant nutrient chemicals could assist in weight reduction, and they are available at St George Naturopathic Clinic.
