Enzyme derived from pineapple clears sinusitis in children

A trial of 118 children with sinusitis were divided into three treatment groups.  One received only bromelain (an enzyme found in pineapple), another group received standard treatment of antibiotics and other treatments.  The group treated with bromelain recovered quicker than the group with other treatments.  The only adverse reaction was from a child who was allergic to pineapple.  From a German journal, In Vivo 2005;19(2):417-21  Bromelain can be found in certain enzyme supplements and can be useful for a number of inflammatory conditions.
